Project NOW and Christian Care will host its annual memorial service Friday morning, commemorating those who have died in the homeless community.
The year’s memorial will commemorate 29 individuals and will begin at 6 a.m. outside the Project NOW headquarters at 1830 2nd Ave. in Rock Island, with names of the deceased being read in an alley behind the building.
Participants will include Christian Care Executive Director Frank Roe, Pastor Steve Peterson and Project NOW Chief Operating Officer Ron Lund.
A burn barrel will remain lit all day as a tribute to those being honored. A closing ceremony will be held at 6 p.m., led by Project NOW President and CEO, the Rev. Dr. Dwight Ford.
