After a decade of board service, Jeff Kirwan is retiring from the Illinois Farm Bureau.

The Mercer County man,was the bureau’s District 3 director. He has shared his expertise on a number of issues facing his industry over the years.

Mr. Kirwan’s leadership was recognized Tuesday, Dec. 16 by Rep. Eric Sorensen, D-Moline,  on the U.S. House floor.

“As a new member of Congress, Jeff Kirwan was the first to let me tour his farm, where we talked about what I could do in Washington to help farmers back home prosper,” Mr. Sorensen said. “As a leader at the Illinois Farm Bureau, Jeff became a trusted voice and well-respected guide for farmers across the state. While his formal role may be ending, the impact of his leadership and generosity will be felt for years to come.”

In addition to serving on the state farm bureau board, Mr. Kirwan was president of the Mercer County Farm Bureau for 13 years. There he tackled county issues from livestock siting to rural mental health.
