LECLAIRE – Candy Cane Lane LeClaire will be held here from Friday, Dec. 13, to Sunday, Dec. 21.
Th event had originally been set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, but has been extended because of the possible wintry weather to hit the area on Saturday.
The holiday celebration – also being called “Shop Small Saturday 2.0” – will give holiday shoppers a chance to buy goods at many different businesses in LeClaire.
The shopping celebration was set up to help small businesses in the community that were counting on a busy Small Business Saturday on Saturday, Nov. 29. That day turned out to be a very slow shopping day because of a snowstorm that hit the region, dumping some 10 inches of snow.
Shoppers are invited to pick up a “Peppermint Passport” at participating businesses during the Candy Cane Lane event. The passports, which will also be available beginning at 10 a.m. at the LeClaire Info Center, 117 S. Cody Road, give shoppers a chance to win a prize basket.
Shoppers should have their passports stamped at the various shops. They will receive one entry for each shop they visit and five entries if they make a purchase. Passports must be turned in at any participating shop or the LeClaire Information Center by 3 p.m. on Dec. 21. The drawing will take place at 4 p.m. that day. Shoppers don’t have to be present to win.
Some of the participating businesses include: Aunt Hattie’s Fanciful Emporium, Bamboo Baby Boutique, Bela, Cody Road Trading Post, Crafted QC, Ember on the Hill, Kitsch-n Sink Antiques, LeClaire Olive Oil Company, LeClaire Plant Company, Nest Modern Goods, Razzleberries, Skindarella’s Wonderland Art Collective, The Potter’s House, and Wide River Winery Tasting Room.
Shoppers are also reminded that road work has been completed that there is now two-way traffic through town.
