The annual Battle of the Mayors returns this Saturday, Dec. 6, as Quad Cities’ top city leaders step behind the iconic Red Kettles to raise funds for The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities Area.

The friendly competition invites residents to show their community spirit by stopping by their local kettle and supporting their city’s representative in this light-hearted holiday challenge.

Which city will take home this year’s bragging rights? Will Rock Island come out on top? Will Davenport rally behind its incoming leadership? Or will Bettendorf’s representative lead them to victory?

The Battle of the Mayors (and others) will take place at these three Red Kettle locations on Saturday:

    • Bettendorf City Council Member Lisa Brown will be ringing from 10 a.m. to noon on behalf of Mayor Bob Gallagher at the Bettendorf Hy-Vee at 2900 Devils Glen Road.
    • Davenport Mayor-elect Jason Gordon will be ringing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Davenport Hy-Vee at 1823 E Kimberly Road.
    • Rock Island Mayor Ashley Harris will be ringing from 6-8 p.m. at the Rock Island Hy-Vee at 2930 18th Ave.

The Battle of the Mayors is part of The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign, which helps fund essential programs and services throughout the Quad Cities year-round. The campaign continues through Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, at numerous locations throughout the Quad Cities region. Volunteer bell ringers are still needed. The Salvation Army urges individuals, families, businesses, churches, and service groups to sign up for a shift.

To volunteer, please visit RegisterToRing.com and select your preferred date, time, and kettle location.
