Quad City-Times Bix 7 Director Michelle Juehring has been named the MarathonFoto/Road Race Management Race Director of the Year.
The award (presented by MYLAPS Sports Technology) is made annually to recognize and promote excellence in race directing. Nominees are judged on several factors, including overall ability, reputation of race, creativity, and organizational ability. (Go here to see a list of previous award winners.)
MarathonFoto/Road Race Management announced in a news release on Monday, Dec. 1, that a committee made up of race directors, athletes, media officials, corporate executives and club leaders selected Ms. Juehring for the honor.
The award will be presented at the Road Race Management Race Directors’ Meeting Welcome Reception on Monday, Dec. 8.
“Michelle Juehring has shown grace and grit since taking over as director of the Quad-City Times Bix 7 from longtime race director Ed Froehlich in 2020,” said Phil Stewart, president of Road Race Management.
“She skillfully respected and retained key features which Ed had developed during his long tenure while placing her own stamp on the event with new features like the Senior Bix, a flat one- or two-mile event designed to provide a way for past participants who can no longer cover the full race distance to be part of the event,” he added. “This year she adroitly navigated a near cancellation of the event due to weather. She is a most worthy recipient of the 2025 MarathonFoto/Road Race Management Race Director of the Year,”
