LivWell CARES, a Davenport-based nonprofit, is once again organizing its Low-Income Senior Holiday Meal Delivery Program for Scott County seniors. The program aims to provide hot holiday meals on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day to seniors in need.

Sodexo, St. Ambrose University’s food service operation, will continue its support by providing volunteers to cook and package individual meals. Facing funding cuts to nonprofits, LivWell CARES emphasizes the critical need to sustain this program for seniors.

The organization is currently fundraising to cover the estimated $20,000 cost of the meals. With community support, LivWell CARES anticipates delivering about 1,500 hot meals to seniors across the three holidays.

Rhonda Halterman, owner of LivWell Seniors and founder of LivWell CARES, stated, “We’re determined to keep this worthy project alive so seniors who might not otherwise have a hot meal during the holidays will be able to experience some holiday cheer.”

Tax-deductible donations can be sent by check by Monday, Oct. 27, to: LivWell CARES – Holiday Meal Program, 1035 West Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA 52806.

Donations also can be made via PayPal or credit card at www.qclivwellcares.org.
