GENESEO, Illinois – State Street Market, a 10-year-long Midwest autumn tradition, will return to this city’s downtown on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The free open-air market has been a “destination for amazing style, unbeatable savings, and guaranteed smiles,” the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce said in a news release.
Attendees will discover a selection of curated handmade and vintage vendors, enjoy live music, snap fun photos, savor delicious food, and explore the shops and restaurants Geneseo has to offer.
A curated list of more than 60 vendors and mobile boutiques will be set up along historic State Street in Downtown Geneseo. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shop vintage, handmade and handpicked goods from all over the Midwest.
Attendees are urged to make a day of it. They can enjoy shopping and dining citywide all day long.
Many past vendors are expected to return as well as new names setting up for their first market.
Market day lineup
Events and offerings including live music and fun will be going on all day. That includes
- Paxton Sherbeyn will perform at State Street Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Bugz Benson will play at the Food Court from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Chloe Mae will take the hayrack stage from 1-4 p.m.
- Food trucks will be set up for market guests and picnic tables and blankets will be spread out for a safe and fun outdoor dining experience.
- Geneseo’s brick and mortar stores and restaurants are ready for your local shopping and dining needs.
- Village Home Stores will display Whirlpool’s new Divya washing machine at a #washout event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Developed as part of The Washing Machine Project, in collaboration with the Whirlpool Foundation, the new machine was invented to address the Global Laundry Divide. According to Whirlpool, about 60% of the world’s population — around 5.6 billion people — still wash clothes by hand with the burden falling largely on women and girls, who spend up to 20 hours a week on this unpaid labor. The Divya machine saves users up to 75% of time and uses 50% less water compared to hand washing clothes. The two organizations plan to assemble and distribute 150,000 machines to underserved communities over the next five years.
