MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine announced today, Sept. 11, it has hit a significant milestone: surpassing $100 million in assets.
“We are privileged to steward more than 300 individual charitable funds, each established to support a wide range of causes – from granting to education, health, and housing to the arts, workforce development, and more,” the foundation said in a statement.
The news release added “These funds, created by individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits, are expressions of commitment to the people, places, and causes they care about most. Over the past 25 years, more than $71 million has been granted to support vital charitable programs and projects locally, nationally, and internationally.”
The foundation applauded the organization’s founders and early champions, staff, and board members “who laid the groundwork for an enduring culture of philanthropy. Their leadership, combined with the ongoing trust of our donors and partners, has created a legacy that continues to give, actuate, and grow.”

“This milestone is not just about reaching $100 million in assets – it’s about the impact these resources and related granting represent,” Charla Schafer, president of the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine, said in the news release. “Every gift entrusted to the Community Foundation reflects hope, commitment, and belief in a better future for our neighbors and children.”
She added “We are honored to be the bridge between the generous hearts of our donors and the needs and opportunities within our community.”
