The City of Moline is hosting a free event designed to foster community connection and belonging. “Connect IRL: Film & Fair” will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Bartlett Performing Arts Center at Moline High School.
The event will begin with a screening of the documentary “Join or Die,” which explores the importance of civic engagement and its decline, based on social scientist Robert Putnam’s “Bowling Alone” research. Following the film, a Joining Fair will take place in the foyer, where local clubs and organizations will share their missions and offer ways for attendees to get involved.
The City of Moline highlights this event as part of its commitment to “social infrastructure,” aiming to strengthen connections among residents.
The Joining Fair will provide an opportunity to connect with groups such as the Quad Cities Pickleball Club, Quad Cities Bike Club, Quad City Girls Who Walk, and Gray Matters Collective, among others.
Organizations interested in showcasing their group can contact Ashley Allen Smith at [email protected] or (309) 524-2007 to reserve a spot. For more information, visit www.bit.ly/connectmoline.
