IowaWORKS will host the ninth annual Quad-Cities Success Fair – one of the largest hiring and resource events in the region – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at NorthPark Mall in Davenport.

The event is free to the public and aims to connect veterans, transitioning service members, and the wider community with employment, resources, and educational opportunities. About 100 employers and community resources will be on hand to discuss thousands of job opportunities in and around the Quad Cities region.

“We hope to connect the community with employers and the needed resources to help people succeed,” said James Stout, Home Base Iowa coordinator and a military veteran. “We want to help those people that have recently been job displaced and those who may be looking for a career change.”

IowaWORKS founded the Quad-Cities Success Fair nine years ago to provide hiring resources for veterans and their spouses. The community event has since grown to become one of the largest job fairs in Eastern Iowa, with last year’s attendance exceeding 400, according to IowaWORKS. The event’s success is a collaborative effort, flourishing through partnerships with IowaWORKS, Illinois Department of Employment Security and Home Base Iowa.

“Veterans, military personnel and family members, will have the opportunity to have on-site interviews and network with some of the top employers in our region,” said Shane Sawyer, a veteran career planner for IowaWORKS. “The community is also invited to participate to explore new career opportunities.”

For those unable to attend in person, IowaWORKS’ center in Davenport offers additional resume and job-seeking services. Located at 1801 E. Kimberly Road, the center provides job seekers with assistance in job searches, resume building, mock interviews, and more.

For more information on the job fair, contact James Stout at (563) 445-3200, Ext. 43350.
