Sky Dine to spice up QCIA dining, drink experiences

    A new concessionaire will bring a trio of unique food and drink experiences to the Quad Cities International Airport this summer after the QCIA board of commissioners selected Sky Dine to serve the Moline (MLI) airport.

    The addition of Sky Dine also will spice up those three new hospitality options with local products, new concepts and elevated service as part of the airport’s ongoing terminal Project Gateway improvements, a QCIA news release said. That effort will soon enter its second phase under construction manager Estes Construction.

    The family-owned Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based company boasts 30 years in the restaurant and retail industry, That inclucdes a decade of serving airports.

    Sky Dine will invest more than $1 million in build-out and renovations. They will incorporate modern equipment and technology such as robotic food delivery and mobile ordering. The design and menu strategy will emphasize efficiency, sustainability and passenger convenience.

    The new concessions are expected to open this summer, the airport said. 

    Sky Dine will develop and manage three concession locations, with final names and concepts to be announced later. They are:

    • Pre-security eatery: Grab n’ Go items, Sunny’s Coffee from Moline, Cinnabon, a full bar. Its quick-serve menu featuring breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.
    • Post-security eatery: All pre-security items plus Smash Pizza from Bettendorf, Sammie’s Sandwich Company, Cinnabon, and a full-service bar and restaurant menu.
    • B Concourse bar: A bar concept featuring robotic food delivery, Grab n’ Go selections, full bar service. It also will have access to the post-security eatery menu. It will be designed for maximum convenience.

    Local collaboration is central to Sky Dine’s plan, QCIA said. Partnerships with Quad Cities favorites such as Smash Pizza and Sunny’s Coffee are  in the works. So are deals with Midwest Ale Works, Bent River Brewing and Wake Brewing. Working with local brands familiar and beloved by Quad Citizens will create a strong sense of place and showcase area flavors, QCIA added.

    Sky Dine was chosen through a competitive process. It was designed to identify a firm capable of strengthening the airport’s dining program, QCIA said. Its proposal stood out due to an emphasis on quality, variety and meaningful local partnerships. That was supported by a strong track record in airport operations. The company’s vision aligns with the airport’s broader modernization efforts and commitment to improving the traveler journey.
