River Action is accepting nominations for the 26th Annual Eddy Awards, which celebrate exceptional contributions to the health, vitality and future of the Mississippi River and its riverfront. Nominations are open until Jan. 25, 2026.
The Eddy Awards recognize individuals, organizations and groups that “go against the current” — the definition of an “eddy” — to challenge the status quo and create significant, river-focused impact.
Nominations are being accepted in six categories:
- Education – Programs, curriculum or innovations that deepen river knowledge and awareness.
- Design – Architecture, renovation, planning or placemaking that enhances riverfront livability.
- River Activity – Recreation, active use and public engagement with the river.
- Arts – Creative work inspired by the river, including visual, literary or performance art.
- Stewardship – Environmental protection, conservation, restoration and enhancement.
- Revitalization – Economic development, business or industry contributing to riverfront vibrancy.
Honorees can include individuals, organizations, corporations, schools, community groups and governments. Past recipients are listed at riveraction.org/EddyWinners.
Nominations can be submitted online at riveraction.org/nominate or by emailing [email protected]. Submissions must include the category, nominee name, contact person (name and phone number) and a brief explanation of why the nominee deserves the award.
