CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — ITC Midwest recently donated $20,000 to the River Bend Food Bank to help address food insecurity in the communities it serves, the company announced Monday, Dec. 1.
The funds will help provide nutritious meals to individuals and families in need during the holiday season. The announcement coincides with Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity observed on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The $20,000 contribution is part of ITC Midwest’s overall $100,000 commitment to regional food banks across its service territory.
“We recognize family budgets are tight right now and appreciate the ongoing local efforts by food banks to address food insecurity,” said ITC Midwest President Dusky Terry. “Our commitment to serving communities extends beyond providing safe and reliable electric transmission service. We care about the communities we serve and are acting today to help support individuals and families to help lighten their load at a critical time.”
The donation is expected to provide 100,000 meals to people facing hunger, according to Dorie Arp-Benore, director of donor relations at River Bend Food Bank.
“We truly could not do what we do without the support of caring business partners like ITC Midwest,” Ms. Arp-Benore said.
The contribution is part of ITC Midwest’s Greater Giving Program, which supports organizations providing essential services and improving the quality of life in local communities.
