HNI tops in key indicators

America’s Most Responsible Companies are selected based on publicly available key performance indicators derived from social responsibility reports, sustainability reports and an independent survey. The results are focused on company performance across environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance, while the independent survey asked U.S. citizens about their perception of company activities related to corporate social responsibility.

In the release, HNI said it is continuing to build on its decades-long commitment to social responsibility by focusing on three pillars: respecting people, reducing impacts from operations, and redefining tomorrow to create more sustainable products.

Among the progress HNI is making on the company’s measurable goals includes: achieving compliance by all tier one suppliers with HNI’s Code of Conduct; reducing absolute combined scope one and two greenhouse gas emissions by 64%; sourcing of 100% renewable electricity for global operations; and achieving zero waste to landfill at multiple facilities.
