Empowering Abilities has announced three new inductees for its Hall of Fame, which honors them for impacting the lives of people with disabilities.
Empowering Abilities is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities live more independently and feel fully included in their communities. Since 1969, the organization has provided essential services, advocacy, and community-based programs that promote accessibility, well-being, and opportunity.
This year’s Empowering Abilities Hall of Fame inductees are: Wendy McDonagh, Modern Woodmen of America, and the Knights of Columbus Hispanic Council 14131.
Established 30 years ago, the Hall of Fame recognizes individuals, families, volunteers, and community partners whose dedication has strengthened Empowering Abilities and made a lasting impact on the lives of people with disabilities across the Quad Cities.

“Each of this year’s Hall of Fame inductees demonstrate what it means to stand alongside individuals with disabilities with compassion, generosity, and unwavering support,” Jeff Ashcraft, Empowering Abilities president/CEO, said in a news release. “Their belief in our mission strengthens our community and makes our work possible. We are deeply grateful for all they do.”
Here’s a look at the inductees:
- Wendy McDonagh has become one of Empowering Abilities’ most heartfelt and powerful advocates, sharing her family’s story. She brings authenticity, compassion, and unwavering love for her son Danny, a longtime participant at Empowering Abilities. Her ability to articulate the importance of acceptance, joy, and community for individuals with disabilities has inspired countless supporters and strengthened understanding throughout the Quad Cities, according to Empowering Abilities officials.
- Modern Woodmen of America has been a steadfast and generous partner to Empowering Abilities for decades. Its support spans volunteer involvement, HANDS Auxiliary participation, sponsorships, donations, and enthusiastic engagement in our fundraising events and activities. In addition, Modern Woodmen’s print shop partners with Empowering Abilities on services to strengthen its communications and outreach – supporting its ability to share stories, connect with families, and engage the community. This long-standing support has helped advance Empowering Abilities’ mission, improve outreach, and expand opportunities for the individuals and families it serves.
