Sarah Potter, Tri-City Group’s community outreach and workforce planning manager, has been appointed to the Iowa Governor’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Advisory Council, the Davenport firm announced.

Ms. Potter is one of 31 members selected to advise Gov. Reynolds on statewide STEM education, workforce readiness, and talent development initiatives. The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council is charged with strengthening Iowa’s talent pipeline by advancing STEM instruction, connecting classrooms to career pathways, and supporting a future‑ready workforce.

Ms. Potter will represent the construction industry, bringing insight on workforce needs, high‑demand skilled trades careers, apprenticeships, and employer‑led partnerships across the state.

“The opportunity to collaborate with leaders from education, industry, and government will help strengthen Iowa’s workforce,” she said in a Tri-City news release. “Ensuring construction and skilled trades are represented in these conversations is critical to meeting current and future workforce demands.”

Ms. Potter’s appointment was recommended by Lt. Gov. Chris Cournoyer and confirmed by the governor.

In her Tri-City role, Ms. Potter leads regional and statewide efforts focused on career‑connected learning, talent pipeline development, and expanding access to high‑demand STEM and skilled trades occupations.

The Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council is a public-private partnership established to support STEM education, innovation, and workforce development across the state.
